A longtime resident of southwestern Colorado passed away on July 16 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, due to cancer.
Don was born in Fallbrook, Calif., in 1946. He served as a sergeant for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, retiring in 1994. He moved to Colorado in 1997 and lived in the Bayfield and Chimney Rock area.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lisa Shearston-Nix; three daughters, Gina Bradford, Jenni Shearston and Amie Webb; his son-in-law, Paul Bradford; two grandchildren, Josh Nix and Laurel Bradford; and his sister, Doris Lundquist.
A memorial service will be held at Hood Mortuary in Durango, 1261 E. 3rd Ave., on Wednesday, July 28, at 2 p.m.
