Pagosa Springs resident Paul Wayne Henry went to be with the Lord unexpectedly in his home on Monday, Sept. 22. He was 67 years old.

Paul was born to William and Audrey Henry in Tucson, Ariz. Paul attended various colleges and graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

While attending NAU, Paul met Cathy and they were married on Aug. 9, 1975. After living in Arizona, they moved to Pagosa Springs in 1977, where Paul built his family home and began teaching art at the high school. He taught for seven years and coached high school volleyball. During that time, he participated in numerous school and community activities. Paul owned and operated Pine Tree Home Care and worked at Ole Miner’s Steakhouse until his retirement. Paul was active in his church and taught Sunday school for 12 years.

He spent much of his time rafting, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. His friends and family have many memories of time spent with him in the mountains and the canyons. Paul had a love of vintage cars, and spent recent years fixing up his 1952 VW Bug and 1940 Chevy truck. He took great pleasure in cooking and loved sharing a good meal with friends and family.

Paul was best defined by his dedication and involvement in his family. All who knew him were touched by the generous way that he gave of his time. He had a heart for people and a clear understanding of what was important in life. He was considered a best friend and mentor to many. He was also characterized by his compassion, humility, patience and thoughtfulness.

Paul was happily married to the love of his life, Cathy, for 39 years. He loved his daughters and son immensely and nothing gave him greater delight than to see them all happily married. It was his joy to see his children become the individuals God created them to be.

Paul is survived by his wife, Cathy, his daughter and son-in-law Allyson and Gary Coraggio, of Durango; son and daughter-in-law Todd Cy and Angela Henry, of Grand Junction; and daughter and son-in-law Janna and Daniel Ross, of Kiev, Ukraine. In loving memory

Andy Talamante Jr.

July 23, 1969-Oct. 16, 2010

My Andy,

Four years today you were taken away, we shed tears for we miss you so. We miss your smile, your presence in our life.

We don’t forget you, we talk and think of you every day. We tell stories of you and you make us think of so many things we used to do. Sofia remembers you calling her monster and holding her in your arms. Daddy talks about you picking up bales of hay. Mama still cries and her heart longs for you.

I know the boys miss you. Marino feels very lost. You were Adam’s right hand and he talks about sending you here and there and knowing you would get it done.

Me, I think of you every day and long to tell you so many things, but for now, there in my heart and one day, we’ll sit and chat, OK. Everybody misses you and loves you.

We all have our special memories of you.

We love you,

Your family

Glenn Edward Brown was born Sept. 2, 1934. He left this earth to be with his Savior Oct. 26.

Glenn was born to Wallace Edward Brown and Edna (Nancy) Brown in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Peggy McAdams and Joann Brown, and his son, Emmett Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Sheran Brown, and son Brady (Ginger) Brown and his wife, Ginger; and by his son, Brad Brown, and his wife, Kristina. He is survived by grandchildren Rachel Brown, BJ Brown, Dusten Brown, Ashley Brown and Maddie Brown, great-grandchildren Caseon and Brooks Brown; and many friends.

For many years, Glenn was a bi-vocational pastor of several rural Baptist churches in Texas — a junior high teacher during the week and pastor nights and Sundays.

Glenn married Sheran in 1996.

Most recently, Glenn served his church as the adult Sunday school teacher and as an elder on the Servant Team. Glenn demonstrated his deep love for the word of God — often responding to questions by just quoting a pertinent verse of scripture. That was his answer — that was what he contributed.

A memorial service was held on Oct. 29.

In Loving memory — Darin Rome, 7/3/65 to 11/13/11

Three years ago today, our community lost an amazing man, a man by the name of Darin Andrew Rome.

In his passing, he left us with some great memories and love in our hearts. He was an amazing husband, father, son, musician, friend and community member, as well as an icon to look up to. He went above and beyond for a great number of people and never asked for or expected anything in return.

He was a hardworking, driven and kind man with a very outgoing personality and sense of humor that could put a smile on anyone’s face. As a lot of local people know, he was a lineman and serviceman for LPEA and he was constantly donating his time on the side to do community fundraisers and do events to raise money for various groups in the community in need.

His real passion, though, was music; he was an extremely talented drummer, guitarist, singer and songwriter. His music filled people’s hearts with joy. He could play just about anything anyone wanted to hear from rock and roll to country and everything in between.

He had a heart big enough for all of us and his ability to make people laugh will be greatly missed by many.

Darin Rome, you were an amazing man, husband, father, son, friend, musician and leader and you left us all with some great memories and great actions to look up to. We miss you every day.

With love, your family.

obit-0305131654Andrew C. Fautheree III, 75, formerly of Roseburg, Ore., passed from this world to the next on Nov. 12 in Phoenix, Ariz.

He was born in Roseburg on March 23, 1939, to Ferne and Andrew C. Fautheree Jr., both now deceased. In 1947, Andy’s mother remarried to Floyd Andrus, who served as Andy’s stepfather until his own passing in 2005.

As an only child, Andy attended Roseburg High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy just prior to age 18. He served much of a three-year enlistment on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard, before earning an honorable discharge at the rank of seaman in early 1963. Following an occupational stint with a Roseburg newspaper, Andy lived in California for a time before moving to Pagosa Springs, where he first worked to replicate historic muzzle-loading firearms with Don Minor and The House of Muskets.

In 2001, Andy became the Archuleta County veterans service officer (VSO), assisting local military veterans and families as they applied for government benefits for which they may be entitled. In that capacity, he received the Outstanding Veterans Service Officer Award (2004) and the Colorado Veterans Service Officer Association Louis Nardini Award (2006), both top honors in his field. He wrote weekly columns (Veterans Corner) for The SUN and served as county VSO until his retirement in 2011.

On Aug. 9, 2006, Andy and Shirleyann Larivee were married in Deadwood, S.D., while attending the 66th annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. Soon after Andy’s retirement, they moved to Surprise, Ariz., where Shirleyann still works as a nurse in nearby Wickenburg.

Andy enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including the building of model trains, attending black-powder rendezvous, photography and riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He belonged to HOG (Harley Owners Group) chapters in Durango and Glendale, Ariz., and most recently rode with the Phoenix Motorcycle Riders Group.

Andy is survived by his wife; two daughters, Tami Jo Braz (Barry), Oakland, Ore., and Andrea Fautheree, Boulder; a step-daughter, Erin Larivee, Albuquerque, N.M.; and a step-son, James Larivee, also of Albuquerque. Andy’s mother, father and stepfather preceded him in death.

Following a long and noble battle with prostate cancer, Andy quietly succumbed to injuries sustained while doing what he enjoyed most. Cremation has been arranged and, per Andy’s wishes, no formal services are planned.
